Days Since Wedding: How to Calculate Days of Marriage

The number of days since a wedding date (or any significant date) is calculated by counting the calendar days between the start date and today, including leap year days. Day-count milestones — 1,000 days, 5,000 days, 10,000 days — are a popular modern observance in relationships. See the Date Calculation for the complete year-by-year breakdown.

Calculating Days Since a Wedding Date

Days since wedding = (Today's date) − (Wedding date), counting each calendar day including Feb 29 in leap years. The calculation uses a running total of actual calendar days — not approximated as 365 per year. Over a 10-year period, the day count will include 2–3 leap year days (February 29), depending on which years fall in the range.

Milestone Day Counts in Marriage

Day milestones with their approximate year equivalents: 100 days ≈ 3.3 months. 365 days = 1 year. 500 days ≈ 1 year, 4.5 months. 1,000 days ≈ 2 years, 9 months. 5,000 days ≈ 13 years, 8 months. 10,000 days ≈ 27 years, 4.5 months. The 10,000-day milestone (~27.4 years) falls roughly between the 25th and 30th anniversary. For comparison, explore Months Since Date.

Day Count Accuracy: Leap Years

Leap years add one day to the running total for each February 29 that falls within the date range. Approximate leap years per decade: 2–3 per 10 years. Over 50 years: approximately 12–13 leap year days. An exact day count requires iterating through each year in the range to check for leap year status. Related reading: Anniversary Countdown.
